Under the Residential Tenancy Act – section 131(1) it states that any significant tax decreases in a residential complex must be passed on to the tenants in the form of a rent reduction.   The procedures for obtaining a rent reduction vary with the size of the residential complex in which the rental unit exists.

Legal Aid In Ontario

A History…   Ontario first implemented an organized legal aid plan in 1951.  During this early period, applications were sent to local committees who assigned a lawyer to eligible clients. These lawyers provided legal assistance on a volunteer basis.   By 1963, the Ontario Government and the Law Society determined that the volunteer plan was not adequately meeting the demand for legal aid and that it was making excessive demands on the volunteer lawyers.
